With the energy downturn well into its second year, public companies across the energy space have been hungry for capital to both fund growth opportunities and to preserve liquidity. With access to traditional public capital markets challenged, the billions of dollars raised by private equity seem to be a logical source of capital for public companies. On April 27, TPH hosted leaders from both public companies and private capital providers to discuss the strategies, challenges and nuances of executing private investments in public companies. This forum provided over 100 attendees with the opportunity to hear panels discuss the history of private investment in public companies, structured equity investments in the midstream space, take-private transactions and other related topics as well as to participate in Q&A sessions. A social hour followed which provided an opportunity for attendees to network with other energy colleagues.
